555 Flasher Unit

A simple flasher unit based on the 555 timer chip. Designed as an add-on for the R/C FET switch.

Dawn/Dusk Switch

This unit was built to automatically turn on/off a set of garden lights. A simple circuit consisting of a '741 comparator chip and a common light-dependent resistor. An on-board trimpot allows you to vary the level of darness at where the output is to turn on.

Joule Thief

Question: What do you get if you wind a few turns of wire on a small ferrite bead? Answer: a simple step-up DC to DC converter. Now you can power your 4-volt LEDs from a tiny 1.5v button cell.

Blown Fuse Indicator

A visual indication of a blown fuse. If the LED glows, means the fuse has blown. Simple!

Lighthouse Controller

A PIC-based lighthouse beacon whereby the lamp is gradually ramped up to half brightness, followed by a 200 millisecond flash at full brightness, then gradually ramped back down to zero brightness - essentially giving a pseudo mechanical rotational beacon effect. An on-board trimpot sets the delay between each flash - user adjustable between zero seconds and thirty seconds. A resistive light-dependent sensor is also included to disable the beacon during daylight hours.
